SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2014, 11 A.M.
Baccalaureate is a one-hour religious service honoring the graduating class. During the service, an address in the form of a sermon is delivered by a faculty member or respected leader in the religious community.
Tickets are complimentary, but must be reserved in advance. Each graduate is allowed a maximum of three tickets for guests; graduates who march in the processional do not need tickets. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Seating inside Wait Chapel is limited and available on a first-come basis. A ticket does not guarantee admittance and guests should anticipate a line. In the event of rain, the service will be held as planned. Weather permitting, overflow seating and simulcast viewing will be available on Hearn Plaza.
A picnic buffet will be held on Hearn Plaza following the Baccalaureate service (rain location: Reynolda Hall cafeteria). Tickets must be purchased in advance for guests and graduates.
Tickets are not mailed. Tickets for undergraduates should be picked up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16, or Saturday, May 17, 2014, at The Bookstore. Students and/or parents need to bring their IDs with them to claim their tickets. Graduate and professional school students will receive ticket and regalia distribution schedules from their respective schools. More ticket information
Baccalaureate seating policy: This event is very well-attended and seating is limited in Wait Chapel. Each graduate is allotted 3 tickets, and graduates processing in cap & gown with classmates do not need a ticket. Guests must enter the chapel with everyone in their party in order to be seated together after the doors open at 9:45 a.m. Guests will be escorted by staff to the next available seats. All seats will be filled with no empty seats between guests. Saved seats are not permitted. Baccalaureate guests should anticipate a line to enter the Chapel and should be aware that a ticket does not guarantee admission. Weather-permitting, overflow seating and simulcast viewing will be available on Hearn Plaza. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we try to accommodate as many families as possible inside the Chapel.
