Graduate School Hooding and Commencement Ceremony Information
General Information
- Each Hooding and Commencement ceremony lasts approximately two hours and is held inside Wait Chapel.
- Arrive early. Due to security measures, there may be lines to enter Wait Chapel. Please limit the number of items you bring; a clear bag policy will be in place.
- Limited restrooms will be available in Wait Chapel. Executive portable restrooms will also be available.
- Please note: For graduate degree candidates, your Hooding ceremony is your graduation. You will process at that ceremony, be hooded, and will have your degree conferred. At the Monday Commencement ceremony, graduate students are mentioned but not individually recognized. Graduate students do not process across the stage. The Monday ceremony is a university ceremony that focuses on the recognition and awarding of bachelor’s level degrees. Tickets are required for the Monday ceremony, with a maximum of 8 tickets per graduate.

If you are a December or August graduate, please check the personal email address you supplied in your graduation application for information.

Tickets are not required for the Hooding and Commencement Ceremony. There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony in the Green Room of Reynolda Hall for graduates and their families. Students should check their email for additional information related to graduation weekend.
