If severe weather is likely, University officials will announce a decision regarding the severe weather plan on the homepage of the commencement website; on the university’s homepage; on a voicemail message at 336.758.5821; and on local radio (600 AM, 88.5 FM) and television (WXII, Channel 12) stations.

In the event of rain, commencement exercises may still continue outdoors on Hearn Plaza. Ponchos will be available for graduates, but guests are encouraged to bring their own rain gear.

If severe weather is likely to end in the early morning, Commencement may be delayed until 9:30 or 10 a.m. in order to hold the program on Hearn Plaza.

If the severe weather plan is put into effect, Commencement will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Graduates must be at the Coliseum with their degree groups by 8:30 a.m. The order of the ceremony will be the same as that of the outdoor ceremony. Undergraduates will receive diplomas onstage.
